Maloi Ricalde, a member of the nation’s girl group BINI, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her frustration over a fake news report claiming she is dating Rivermaya’s lead vocalist, Rico Blanco.
On Thursday, Ricalde retweeted the now-deleted article, writing, “STOP SPREADING FAKE NEWS. PLS LANG,” accompanied by a deleted link from the news publication.
The article, titled “New Year, New Love? Rico Blanco, BINI Maloi Spotted Together in La Union,” was shared widely before being taken down. However, screenshots of the post were captured by fans of BINI.
While it’s true that Ricalde and Blanco are currently in La Union, they are there as part of a group trip that includes fellow musicians Joshua Caleb Lua, composer Pat Lasaten, Zild Benitez, Ischi Mendoza, and celebrity photographer Shaira Luna.
Joshua Caleb shared an Instagram story featuring a group photo, captioned, “Gumawa ng core memories sa La Union.”
Following fan backlash, the publication removed the article and is being called upon by fans to issue an apology to Ricalde for the misleading report.
