President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has been invited to grace the Sinulog Festival 2025 as disclosed on Monday by Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia.
“Perhaps he has an interest in coming here. The President has not attended Sinulog since he took office in 2022. This will be great opportunity for him to speak to Cebuanos,” Garcia said during a press conference.
He cited that the President last visited Cebu on 9 July 2024, when he officially opened the Palarong Pambansa.
Garcia also invited Senate President Francis Escudero, House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Cabinet Secretaries to watch the annual festival that showcases cultural dance performances.
At least 43 contingents are set to join and compete for Sinulog Festival 2025.
In a related development, Mayor Garcia signed an order prohibiting concerts beyond 10 p.m. on 18 January, the eve of the Fiesta Señor.
Included in the order was for establishments to open their restrooms to all, maintain cleanliness and provide security camera footage when needed.
