American pop icon Britney Spears is set to bring her story to life in a biopic, as confirmed by director Jon M. Chu during an interview at the recently concluded Golden Globe Awards.
The biopic will be based on Spears’ bestselling 2023 memoir, The Woman In Me. According to Chu, the singer will play a significant role in the creative process.
“She’s going to be very involved,” Chu told Entertainment Tonight.
While the project is still in its early stages, Chu emphasized Spears’ involvement, saying, “I haven’t really started anything fully yet, but she will be very involved in this. I have ideas and an approach, but it’s very early.”
Jon M. Chu, known for directing the hit musical film Wicked: Part 1 and its upcoming sequel, Wicked: Part 2 (slated for release on 21 November 2025), expressed his excitement for the project.
Though pre-production has yet to begin, fans of Britney Spears can anticipate an authentic and intimate look into the life of the pop legend, with her direct input shaping the film.
