Abucay, Bataan – Two people died, and others were injured after four vehicles were involved in an accident along the Roman Superhighway on New Year's Eve.
According to the police report, the accident occurred in front of Gemro Tiles, Barangay Laon in this town, around 10:30 p.m.
The report stated that a Honda Jazz (Plate No. NGQ 1841), driven by Chad Daniel Revilla Lawrence of Orani, Bataan; a motorcycle (MV File No. 1303-0610383), whose driver remains unidentified; a Honda Civic (Plate No. URW 907), driven by Jazztine Shane Detruz of Barangay Palili, Samal, Bataan; and a Toyota Corolla (Plate No. PNA 459), driven by Jhonel Samaniego Lintag of Upper Tuyo, Balanga City, were involved in the vehicular accident.
The report also stated that the Toyota Corolla attempted to overtake the Honda Civic while traveling from Orani to Balanga. The Toyota Corolla lost control and collided head-on with the Honda Jazz and the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, hitting the Civic in the process.
The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lintag died en route to the hospital due to his injuries. The two other drivers sustained injuries and were taken to Bataan General Hospital for treatment.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
