Korean pop superstar ROSÉ and singer-producer Bruno Mars' catchy collaboration song “APT.,” inspired by a South Korean drinking game, has garnered attention for its 2000s electro-pop vibe and the chant of “Apateu,” meaning “apartment” in Korean. The track has driven global chart success and sparked a social media dance craze, making it one of the most popular songs on TikTok in recent weeks.
Released in October, the song not only became the year’s most-watched music video on the video-sharing platform YouTube, amassing 715 million views, but also marked the first time since 2012 that a K-pop artist topped the platform’s annual viewership chart.
“APT.” peaked at #25 on the US Apple Music chart, surpassing BTS’s “Dynamite” to become the third highest-charting song by a K-pop act on the platform. Furthermore, it won “Song of the Year” (Daesang) at the 2024 Asia Artist Awards, making ROSÉ the first female soloist and Bruno Mars the first male soloist to receive this honor.
The track has also held the #1 spot on multiple global music charts, including the Global Apple Music Daily chart for 44 consecutive days, and is expected to hit a new peak on the Billboard Hot 100.
“APT.” also returned to No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart, released on 25 December, logging its fourth week at the top of the tally.
