Senator Christopher “Bong” Go spearheaded the effort to uplift the lives of students and indigent residents of Tuguegarao City during his visit on Thursday, 19 December. Go also reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for more programs that directly benefit the poor and vulnerable sectors of society.
In the gathering held at the People’s Gymnasium, the senator, together with his Malasakit Team provided foodpacks, snacks, vitamins, shirts, fans, basketballs and volleyballs to 1,681 beneficiaries. Select recipients also received bicycles, mobile phones, shoes and a watch.
Meanwhile, Senator Go, who was also proclaimed an adopted son of Tuguegarao City during the event, collaborated with Mayor Maila Ting-Que and the local government in providing additional financial support to the beneficiaries.
Mayor Maila Ting-Que then thanked the senator for his various efforts in helping the people of Tuguegarao.
In his message, Senator Go greeted the residents for the celebration of their 25th Cityhood Anniversary yesterday, urged the recipients to use the aid wisely, and assured them of his ongoing efforts to help improve their well-being.
As chairperson of the Senate Committee on Youth, Senator Go has tirelessly supported youth development and education-related initiatives.
The recent enactment of RA 12077, or the Student Loan Payment Moratorium During Disasters and Emergencies Act, reflects Go’s commitment to protecting Filipinos’ dignity during crises. The law, which he co-sponsored and co-authored, provides temporary financial relief for students with outstanding loans during calamities.
