The local government of Muntinlupa City has successfully conducted a comprehensive communications training for its Truth Advocates — a group of dedicated individuals serves as reliable sources of information, point persons in barangays and government offices and content creators committed to combating fake news and promoting truthful communication.
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon said that the forum — graced by Philippine Information Agency-National Capital Region director Emver Cortez as resource speaker — aims to ensure that fake news will not proliferate especially on social media.
Cortez discussed the importance of reliable news gathering and the role of public information offices in supporting these efforts as he stressed strategies to identify and counter fake news, ensuring that accurate information reaches the community.
