10 EMBOS lost
To recall, Makati lost 10 enlisted men’s barrios or EMBOs when the Supreme Court ruled that they belong to Taguig City. EMBO refers to a term regarding the 10 barangays originally established within the jurisdiction of Makati to house Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel.
The long-drawn legal battle on the disputed EMBOs has affected at least 300,000 residents in who have virtually been pampered by the administration of Binay with services on all fronts.
Binay said the political shift resulting from the departure of ten barangays presented significant challenges, impacting approximately 300,000 citizens.
“However, we have not passively accepted this change. We are actively working to support those affected, ensuring they remain an integral part of our Makati family. We are committed to rebuilding and strengthening community ties, fostering an environment of inclusivity and value for every resident, regardless of their district,” pledged Binay.
Groundbreaking projects
The lady mayor said that in 2024 she anticipates groundbreaking projects that will redefine the cityscape, disclosing that the new Makati Life Medical Center will be fully operational in the first half of 2024, enhancing medical facilities and services across the city.
The city government will also launch the Makati Columbarium, providing a dignified resting place for the city’s departed loved ones.
To ensure the safety and well-being of residents, a new state-of-the-art Fire and Police Station will soon open, equipped with the latest technology and resources to enhance the city’s emergency response capabilities.
“We are also initiating the purchase of electric vehicles for our city’s fleet, promoting eco-friendly transportation and contributing to our sustainability goals. These are the highlights of our programs and services for the first half of the year alone,” said Binay, to much applause from Rotarians.
