President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presented over P541 million in People's Survival Fund (PSF) climate adaptation funds to LGU beneficiaries during a ceremonial turnover at Malacañan Palace on Wednesday, 29 November 2023.

Joining the President are Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno, DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., and Climate Change Commission Vice Chairperson and Executive Director Robert Borje.

Among the beneficiaries, the Provincial Government of Mountain Province, led by Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr., received P271.15 million for a Climate Field School.

Maramag, Bukidnon, represented by Mayor Jose Joel P. Doroma, secured P126.40 million for drainage, early warning systems, and agroforestry.

Borongan City, Eastern Samar, through Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda, received P117.96 million for embankment infrastructure and reforestation.

Cabagan, Isabela, represented by Mayor Christopher A. Mamauag, was granted P21.28 million for a solar-powered irrigation project.

Additionally, Catanauan, Quezon Province, represented by Mayor Ramon A. Orfanel, received P2.64 million for a mangrove rehabilitation project, and Besao, Mountain Province, through Mayor Bryne O. Bacwaden, got P2 million for a Water Harvesting Structures Project.

The PSF Board, chaired by Diokno, credited streamlined processes for swift project approvals. As the Philippines prepares to participate in COP28, President Marcos urged global cooperation on climate financing and emphasized the country's role as a trailblazer in domestic climate finance.

He commended the PSF beneficiaries, encouraged successful project implementation, and underscored the importance of addressing climate change challenges for a sustainable and resilient future.
