Patrolman Francis Steve Fontillas of the Quezon City Police District has refused to resign despite the controversy surrounding his social media posts following the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
In a Facebook live video, Fontillas expressed his opposition to Duterte's arrest, adding that he will never follow the orders of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Fontillas stated that he is prepared to face the investigation and the inciting to sedition case filed against him under the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has also filed an administrative complaint against Fontillas for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
In a statement on Wednesday, NAPOLCOM said Fontillas has been ordered to submit his comment, counter-affidavit, or answer within five days upon receipt of the order. Failure to comply will be considered a waiver of his right to respond.
The Commission clarified that any motion filed by Fontillas will not interrupt the given period for submitting his response.
