QC drag racer nabbed by QCPD

Roaring car engines landed a drag racer in Quezon City jail early morning of 23 November 2023.
Quezon City Police District Pasong Putik Police Station (PS 16) Commander P/Lt. Col. Reynaldo Vitto identified the suspect as Carl Andre Perez, 23 years old and a resident of Brgy. Kaligayahan, Novaliches, Quezon City.
Vitto said at around 2:00 a.m., the suspect on board his yellow Honda Civic Sedan and another sedan driver were preparing for a drag racing contest at Commonwealth corner Mindanao Avenues in Brgy. Pasong Putik Proper, Novaliches, Quezon City.
The loud noise from the acceleration of their motor vehicles caught the attention of patrolling policemen from PS 16 who approached the drag racers. However, Perez sped off driving his car dragging an approaching police officer, injuring the latter in the process.
A hot pursuit ensued which led to the identification of the suspect and the discovery of his residence.
In the morning at around 9:00 a.m., the suspect, with the assistance of his father, surrendered at Brgy. Hall of Kaligayahan, Novaliches, Quezon City, that led to his arrest.
PS 16 operatives also recovered the yellow Honda Civic (Sedan) with plate No. WFD 616 in San Mateo, Rizal, which was used by Perez in the illegal drag racing activity.
The suspect was charged with frustrated murder, resistance, and disobedience to an agent of a person of authority, alarms and scandal, and Batas Pambansa Blg. 33, as amended by Presidential Decree No. 1865, amending Batas Pambansa Blg. 33, entitled "An act defining and penalizing certain prohibited acts inimical to the public interests and national security involving petroleum and/or petroleum products, prescribing penalties therefor and for other purposes", before the Quezon City Prosecutor's office.
Meanwhile, Patrolman Selvin Razon is now recuperating from abrasions in the different parts of his body.
In recognizing the prompt action of the PS 16 operatives, QCPD Director P/Brig.Gen. Red Maranan lauded Patrolman Razon for his dedication and commitment to duty, even if it calls for sacrificing his own safety.
