BIFF insurgents surrender
Rillera said the return to the BIFF-KF community symbolizes advancements in security and community development, emphasizing the importance of unity.

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Five individuals believed to be members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter-Karialan Faction voluntarily surrendered to soldiers in Radjah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur.
Joint Task Force Central commander Major General Alex Rillera on Friday narrated that the five insurgents — clad in combat gear — formally yielded to the 33rd Infantry Battalion in Barangay Zapakan, Radjah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur on Tuesday.
Rillera said that during the event, Datu Anwarudin "Macky" Ampatuan, representing Mayor Akmad Ampatuan, Jr., of Mamasapano, expressed gratitude to the five BIFF-KF for returning to the folds of the law.
However, Rillera declined to identify the five former BIFF-KF citing some security reasons as he urged remaining comrades to surrender, highlighting that violence hinders progress.
"Mamasapano's local government is ready to assist those seeking peaceful lives with their families," Ampatuan said.
Rillera, on the other hand, said the return to the BIFF-KF community symbolizes advancements in security and community development, emphasizing the importance of unity.
"Community acceptance and government support create opportunities for positive transformation," Rillera said.
For his part, Brig Gen Oriel L. Pangcog, commander of the 601st Brigade emphasized the military's need for civilian support to end violence in the community.
"This is your opportunity for a secure life with loved ones and contribution to national development," Pangcog said.
