
Mandaluyong Mayor Benjamin S. Abalos Sr. on Monday led the oathtaking of newly elected Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials from 27 barangays at the Mandaluyong College of Science and Technology gym.
Based on the Comelec listings 16 barangay chairmen were re-elected in their respective posts while 11 of them were newcomers.
Abalos congratulated all elected barangay and SK officials and told them to forge unity which will be the key to a successful program of the city.
Witnessing the oath-taking ceremony were officials of the Department of the Interior and Local Government led by Secretary Benhur Abalos, Congressman Neptali "Boyet" Gonzales II, Mandaluyong City Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, as well as all city councilors.
For the part of Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos she told all winners of extend a hand of peace and use their position to unite and serve all their constituents.
DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr., for his part stated that being elected officials of the barangay entails big responsibility citing that only the Philippines has a barangay system of government in the world that has the power to effect a program for their individual village.
