Morong, Bataan — A completed farm-to-market road project at Barangay Sabang here is seen to boost the movement of food in the province.

This comes after the Department of the Interior and Local Government led the inauguration of the 500-meter farm-to-market road funded under the Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund.

The funding was provided to the local government unit for passing the 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance.

According to DILG provincial director Belina Herman, the town is known for having an aquaculture, agriculture and tourism landscape, adding that the FMR will benefit fisherfolks, farmers and residents.

"This initiative aims to address the persistent issues of flooding during the rainy season and excessive dust during dry months, which have been impacting the daily lives of the residents and hindering the movement of goods, thus creating challenges for local businesses," Herman said.

Meantime, Mayor Cynthia Linao-Estanislao expressed her gratitude for the agency's support in securing the prestigious SGLG award, which led them to avail the SGLGIF as she underscored that the road is a highly welcomed development, aligning with the municipality's goal of becoming a prime tourist destination.

The SGLGIF, formerly known as Performance Challenge Fund, is an incentive given in the form of a financial grant to eligible LGUs under the Local Governance Performance Management Program.
