Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. on Friday said the Philippines is looking forward to conducting joint patrols with other Association of Southeast Asian countries in the South China Sea.
"We welcome joint patrols with other ASEAN countries," he said in an interview on CNN's The Source.
Teodoro said he and his ASEAN counterparts will discuss these possible joint patrols at the sidelines of the upcoming ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting in Jakarta.
"We exhort our counterparts in ASEAN counties to support our claims against further intrusion by China," he said.
