Metro Pacific Health proudly reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the well-being and health of the Filipino people, embodying its mission to be The Heart of Filipino Healthcare.
At the forefront of innovation and quality care, MPH continues to break boundaries by integrating state-of-the-art technology with compassionate care, ensuring that every Filipino feels seen, heard, and valued.
"Our mission goes beyond providing exceptional healthcare services," said Dr. Harish Pillai, Group Chief Executive Officer of Metro Pacific Health. "We aim to become an essential part of every Filipino's health journey, ensuring that they are not only treated but also truly cared for. We want to build the healthcare industry as a whole, and that means taking care of our patients, but also of our own talents, to continually improve our services."
Project Nightingale
In line with this goal, during the recent October 11 media roundtable, MPH unveiled "Project Nightingale," an initiative that brings The Heart of Filipino Healthcare to life by empowering nursing students and creating opportunities for current nurses.
Highlighting its dedication to setting the highest standards in healthcare when it comes to medical and nursing excellence, MPH's Project Nightingale is a one-of-a-kind initiative that aims to empower Filipino nursing students and current nurses in the country. It is a three-part event happening on October 20, during National Nurses Week.
The National Championships of the Metro Pacific Health Battle of the Nightingales (BOTN) will be an event that MPH hopes will inspire excellence in nursing students. It is an inter-nursing school, quiz-based competition, which is having its first-ever nationwide run this year, started by a series of hospital-level events across the Metro Pacific Health Group in May 2023.
Over 500 students spread across 200 schools throughout the country participated in the hospital-level rounds, competing to be their hospital's representative in the National Championship. Each champion team of the hospital-level events received cash prizes and a generous scholarship to fund their nursing studies.
On October 20, BOTN will culminate in the National Championship, where 12 schools—all winners of their respective hospital level round—will compete for the title of the National Champions.
"We believe that Project Nightingale is the next step in our shared goal of nation-building, emphasizing our role in shaping the healthcare landscape in the Philippines. With this program, we are creating the foundation for the next generation of nurses, and developing our current crop of talents as well, in order to enhance the healthcare industry as a whole for years to come," said Dr. Annabelle R. Borromeo, Chief Nursing Officer of Metro Pacific Health.
Looking Forward
As Metro Pacific Health moves ahead, the group promises to continuously push boundaries and remain the epitome of healthcare excellence and talent development in the country through many more events lined up to end the year.
Also on October 20, MPH will be holding the Metro Pacific Health Healthcare Expo, which will serve as a platform to showcase MPH hospitals as premiere institutions of healthcare and as a potential employers to grow and nurture nursing careers. Through the Expo, MPH aims to actively engage nursing students and current nurses, opening the doors of opportunity within the MPH group.
As a culmination of the day, MPH will hold the Soledad Velez-Pangilinan: The MPH Nursing Excellence Awards, an event that celebrates nursing excellence. This prestigious honor was named after the esteemed Mrs. Soledad Velez-Pangilinan, mother of MPH Chairman Manny Velez Pangilinan, who was a staunch supporter of the Philippine healthcare system, advocating patient and family-centered care.
The award will recognize outstanding nurses in three categories: Excellence in Clinical Nursing, Excellence in Nursing Leadership, and Excellence in Nurse Education.
From 47 nominees across 18 MPH hospitals, 15 exceptional finalists have been identified, and a distinguished jury of renowned nursing and health leaders will determine the winners in each category.
The winners will be awarded on 20 October, celebrating their achievements and their commitment to embodying the Heart of Filipino Healthcare.
With plans for more recruitment and talent development programs, as well as further expansion, groundbreaking medical research, and more community outreach programs, MPH is committed to excellence and remains poised to further solidify its position as the cornerstone of healthcare in the Philippines.
