Cab driver in rape of transgender yields

The National Bureau of Investigation yesterday revealed that the taxi driver accused of raping a transgender woman has surrendered.
The driver though denied raping the victim, adding that what happened was consensual and said he was flagged down in June 2022 to transport the victim.
The taxi driver said he and the victim agreed that something would happen between them and that he would be paid.
He said he was unable to talk to the victim before leaving as she was asleep but took the victim's money which was allegedly his payment.
Earlier report stated the victim said she passed out after instructing the driver to take her to Caloocan City as she was drunk.
She claimed that instead of bringing her to her destination, the suspect allegedly took her to a motel in Mindanao Avenue. He reportedly checked in at around 5 a.m. and left after an hour.
The victim woke up at around 2 p.m. naked and her bag empty of money and then called up her friends and asked them to bring her home.
The incident which happened in the middle of 2022 had been reported to the Quezon City Police District but there was still no development in the case.
The victim said she wants to teach the taxi driver a lesson and to tell the public that women are not the only rape victims.
