Former Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation chairperson Efraim Genuino had failed to convince the Sandiganbayan to reverse its earlier ruling that found him guilty of multiple graft charges.
In a 23-page resolution signed on Wednesday, the anti-graft court denied Genuino's motion for reconsideration for utter lack of merit.
The court junked his plea to inhibit members of the court's Third Division from handling his 39 corruption cases. According to the Sandiganbayan, it did not find any valid ground that would warrant his motion for reconsideration.
In a previous petition, the erstwhile PAGCOR chief, in his motion for inhibition, sought to re-raffle the 19 graft cases to another division, alleging bias on the part of the justices.
The charges against Genuino were over his alleged mismanagement of PAGCOR funds worth P183.7 million.
Genuino's disbursement of P37 million for the training of Philippine team swimmers for the 2012 London Olympics had been questioned for lacking the PAGCOR board's approval.
He was also accused of using PAGCOR funds to pay for P63 million worth of tri-media commercials for the BIDA Foundation from 2008 to 2009, and P26.7 million cost of tickets for the 2008 movie Baler, produced by Viva Communications and BIDA Foundation.
The Ombudsman filed the case in 2013.
