
Tinga
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. has appointed former Supreme Court Associate Justice Dante Osorio Tinga as acting chairperson and member of the Board of Directors of the Development Bank of the Philippines, Malacañang announced on Friday.
A document released to the media by the Office of the Press Secretary showed that Tinga was appointed to the position by the President on 9 December.
It was coursed through the Department of Finance, which has supervisory functions over the government-owned bank, according to the OPS.
Tinga took his oath of office in Malacañang on Thursday before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, who himself is also a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Tinga, who served as SC associate justice from 2003 to 2009, is also a former member of the House of Representatives, representing the Taguig-Pateros District.
Tinga also served as dean of the University of the East College of Law from 1989 to 1993 and again from 2017 to 2018.
The DBP is a state-owned financial institution dedicated to supporting the national government's key development programs.
It was established in 1947 and mandated to help the government in rebuilding the country's war-torn infrastructures.
