Maguindanao BIFF members surrender
The surrender of the former BIFF-Bungos Faction members materialized through the active support and collaboration of the local chief executives of Upi, Maguindanao del Norte and other government agencies in the province

ZAMBOANGA CITY — A total of six active members of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters under the Bungos Faction surrendered and turned over their high-powered firearms and ammunition to the military in Maguindanao del Sur.
Joint Task Force Central commander Maj. Gen. Roy Galido said that the six former BIFF turned over themselves to Lt.Col. Guillermo Mabute Jr., commander of the 57th Infantry Battalion station in Upi, Maguindanao del Norte on Tuesday.
The former BIFF-Bungos Faction members also turned over to the military one 7.62mm M14 Rifle, one Barrett, two M79 Grenade Launchers, one Rocket Propelled Grenade, one UZI type 9mm Rifle and assorted magazines and ammunition.
Galido said the surrender of the former BIFF-Bungos Faction members materialized through the active support and collaboration of the local chief executives of Upi, Maguindanao del Norte and other government agencies in the province.
The 57th IB — as an active partner of peace, security and development — remained committed to assisting the former BIFF to start a new life as they rejoin the mainstream society.
The six former insurgents were also given cash assistance and food packs from the Local Chief Executives of South Upi in Maguindanao del Sur and Upi in Maguindanao del Norte.
