National Capital Region Police Office chief P/Brig. Gen Jonnel Estomo vowed to members of the media its full support and intensified efforts to protect the country's journalists against crime and violence.
Estomo made the remark during a small gathering he organized for media practitioners in the National Capital Region Tuesday night at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
The NCRPO chief stressed that he wanted to let the media know that he is keen on helping media practitioners who are under threats.
His efforts come after the killing of hard hitting radio broadcaster Percy Lapid or Percival Mabasa while on his way home in Las Piñas City last October.
It was under the leadership of Estomo when the Lapid incident occurred and he wasted no time in resolving the controversial case.
Estomo also vowed to protect the media working in Manila as he organized several activities involving interaction among the media and the police.
