BI, CICC ink pact on cybercrime hubs creation
The Bureau of Immigration said on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center for the establishment of cybercrime hubs.
BI commissioner Norman Tansingco and the CICC formalized their agreement on 15 November which seeks to establish cybercrime hubs at the BI Main Office and in significant airports to handle cases of online fraud and cybercrime.
Tansingco said that the CICC is the government's lead coordinating agency for the suppression of cybercrimes.
Under the pact, the bureau also agrees to provide assistance in investigations of cybercrime and fraud involving foreign nationals.
Tansingco said that this invaluable partnership between government agencies is a major step towards eliminating cybercrime in the country and warned those foreign nationals involved in cybercrime that they cannot escape liability and will be deported and blacklisted.
