Manuel V. Pangilinan-led PLDT Inc. said customers can expect better services as its new Integrated Operations Center, a two-story facility housing the group's network teams, officially becomes operational.
During the facility inauguration on Tuesday, PLDT senior vice president Mario G. Tamayo said the new facility will ensure the "topnotch experience of our customers on our network and with our services."
"This cutting-edge facility is the latest testament to the commitment of the PLDT Group to be at the forefront of innovation in the country… We are also contributing greatly to helping the government realize its ambition to improve the country's digital infrastructure," Tamayo said.
The facility is equipped with network monitoring and multimedia conferencing facilities, among others.
With the IOC monitoring the operations and performance of PLDT's extensive fiber infrastructure and Smart's wireless facilities across the country, the PLDT Group aims to contribute to helping the government realize its ambition to level up the country's digital infrastructure.
P518.5-B investments
The establishment of the IOC is part of the PLDT Group's massive investments in its network.
The group has so far invested P518.5 billion for network expansions in the last 10 years until 2021. Network-related initiatives made up the bulk of the P89 billion spent for 2021. For this year, the company set its capital expenditure guidance to P85 billion.
PLDT recently unveiled the country's biggest data center, Vitro Sta Rosa, and inaugurated the Jupiter Cable System, which is the fastest cable system between the Philippines, the US, and Japan. Both facilities will help strengthen the country's position as the next hyperscaler hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
