The Philippine Air Force (PAF) held a Decommissioning Ceremony of its UH-1H helicopter fleet on 5 November at Brigadier General Benito N Ebuen Air Base, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

The ceremony marked the aircraft type’s retirement from PAF service, ending a legacy that began with the arrival of the first four UH-1H helicopters at Villamor Air Base on 29 March 1969.

PAF leadership, led by Commanding General Lieutenant General Arthur M. Cordura, PAF, joined the ceremony to honor the UH-1H fleet’s contributions over nearly six decades of service.

Job well done

Over the years, PAF said the helicopters supported various military operations and humanitarian efforts across the country, reflecting the dedication and professionalism of generations of pilots, aircrew, and maintenance personnel who operated and sustained them.

As the PAF continues its modernization and capability development efforts, the decommissioning marks the end of an important chapter in its history. The UH-1H’s legacy of service and the dedication of the personnel behind it will remain part of the institution’s enduring heritage.
