Junior Altas clip Braves in overtime

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta bounced back into the win column with a hard-fought 101-95 overtime victory over Arellano University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 102 juniors basketball tournament on Monday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

Don Rosales led the Junior Altas with 26 points, while Sizco Roquid added 23 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals to keep Perpetual on top of Group B with an 8-2 win-loss record.

Roquid, a member of Gilas Pilipinas Youth, credited the team's trust in its system for the conquest.

“We rely on the system of our coaches. We trust each other, so we won,” Roquid said.

Holding on to a 99-95 lead in extra period, Roquid and Don Rosales drained crucial baskets to give Perpetual a 103-96 lead with 32 seconds left and remained ahead until the final buzzer.

Lord Dulanas contributed 17 points, while Brian Orca Jr. posted a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Lawrence Pillas paced Arellano with 27 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, but his effort went for naught as the Braves fell to 3-7 in Group B.
