Jaguar has unveiled the Type 01 in New York, a four-door electric grand tourer that introduces a new generation of vehicles from the British luxury carmaker.

The Type 01 is Jaguar's most powerful production car to date. Its three electric motors produce up to 1,030 PS and 1,365 Nm of torque, enough to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.2 seconds.

JAGUAR Type 01 features a long bonnet, low roofline and sleek four-door body, with orders scheduled to open in early 2027.

It uses Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), a dedicated electric vehicle platform developed to accommodate the car's unusual proportions and performance requirements.

An 850-volt electrical system supports a 118-kWh battery with an estimated driving distance of up to 644 kilometers under the US Environmental Protection Agency cycle.

According to Jaguar, a 350-kW DC fast charger can replenish enough energy for another 321 kilometers of travel in as little as 13 minutes. Actual charging times and driving distance will depend on operating conditions.

Orders are expected to open in early 2027, with initial customer deliveries scheduled for the second half of the year. Prices are anticipated to start at $130,500.

The production car closely follows the Type 00 concept that Jaguar introduced in 2024. Its long bonnet, low roofline and extended rear section distinguish it from conventional electric sedans.

Jaguar says the design takes inspiration from earlier models such as the E-Type and XJS, although the Type 01 adopts a considerably different appearance.

The car rides on 23-inch wheels and uses active aerodynamic components to reduce air resistance. These include adjustable air vanes and a three-stage rear spoiler. Jaguar reports a drag coefficient of 0.23, its lowest figure for a production vehicle.

The cabin accommodates four occupants, with a central structure that separates the individual seating areas. A 24-inch OLED display serves the driver, while a seven-inch touchscreen provides access to frequently used controls.

Jaguar also developed an immersive audio system with a full-width soundbar and speakers integrated into the seats.

The Type 01 is designed, engineered and manufactured in the United Kingdom. Its development draws on experience from Jaguar's Formula E racing program, particularly in electric power delivery and vehicle handling.

The model's name also carries a reference to the company's past. "Type" comes from earlier Jaguars, while "0" denotes zero tailpipe emissions and "1" identifies the first vehicle in the new generation.

Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover said the Type 01 combines the company's traditional grand touring character with its latest work in electric vehicle engineering.

The Type 01 is expected to enter production in 2027 as Jaguar develops its next lineup of electric luxury vehicles.
