Digital asset platform Bron has launched FaceScan, a wallet recovery feature that lets users regain access through facial verification if they lose their passkeys or devices.

The feature is powered by iProov’s Dynamic Liveness technology, which verifies that the person attempting recovery is physically present and matches the user who originally set up the account.

FaceScan is designed for self-custody users, who directly control their digital assets and may not have a third party capable of resetting credentials if access is lost.

It will operate alongside Bron’s existing Guardian recovery option, where two trusted contacts chosen by the user confirm their identity.

Users may activate either recovery method or both.

Bron said FaceScan does not require an identity document, seed phrase or transfer of custody to the company.

“Account recovery has always been the hardest problem in self-custody,” iProov founder and CEO Andrew Bud said.

Bron founder Dmitry Tokarev said the feature is intended to give users a recovery option without giving up control of their assets.

“You shouldn’t have to choose between control and recoverability,” Tokarev said.

FaceScan is now available globally across devices and operating systems.
