After 11 years of championing independent films and intimate moviegoing experiences, Cinema ’76 Film Society is set to close its doors for good on 25 October.
The beloved microcinema announced its permanent closure in an emotional farewell, saying, “It’s time for our last shot.” It thanked the community that supported its journey from San Juan to Anonas and finally Tomas Morato, where generations of filmmakers, film students and movie lovers found a home.
Known for its iconic couches, filmmaker Q&As and commitment to Philippine independent cinema, Cinema ’76 invited supporters to spend its remaining weeks watching films, enjoying a meal or coffee, picking up memorabilia and reliving the memories before “the final credits” roll.
Cinema ’76 will remain open Tuesdays through Sundays from 3 p.m. until its final day on 25 October.
