NCRPO orders internal cleansing amid cop harassment

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano issued a stern warning to all Metro Manila police personnel against misconduct, declaring that law enforcers who abuse authority or violate public dignity will be dismissed from service.
The warning follows the relief of a Caloocan City Police Station officer who is facing administrative and criminal complaints for allegedly catcalling, harassing, and inappropriately touching a woman.
The officer was stripped of his assignment and reassigned to a holding unit pending summary dismissal proceedings.
Abrahano stressed that police officers bear a sworn duty to protect citizens rather than intimidate or harass members of the public.
"I will be very clear, do not do bad things," Abrahano said. "Do not abuse your position. Do not take advantage of the uniform. If you violate the law or the rules, you will be held accountable."
