Google has rolled out Ask Maps in the Philippines, bringing conversational queries and real-time information to Google Maps as Filipinos navigate roads, businesses and destinations.

Ask Maps allows users to ask questions about locations, roads and routes directly within the Google Maps app by tapping the “Ask Maps” button below the search bar.

The feature can provide real-time information about road conditions and closures, which Google said could be particularly useful during heavy rains, typhoons and flooding.

Users, for example, can ask whether roads between Quezon City and Bonifacio Global City are closed or flooded. Ask Maps can summarize available road updates and show live delay alerts or indicate if the route is clear.

The feature can also provide information on nearby establishments and whether they are open.

Users stranded by bad weather may ask for nearby restaurants or other destinations while specifying conditions, such as finding a restaurant that can be reached without walking through the rain.

Ask Maps can then suggest locations, routes and other information based on the request.

Beyond weather-related queries, the feature can handle more detailed searches, such as finding quieter restaurants or planning scenic road trips.

Google described Ask Maps as the biggest transformation of Google Maps in more than a decade.

The feature is now available through the Google Maps app in the Philippines.
