The Philippine Army’s Armor “Pambato” Division has reactivated a specialized mechanized unit and deployed tank and security platoons to reinforce election security for the upcoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections.

The send-off ceremony and official reactivation of the Division Mechanized Infantry Company (Dismounted) took place at the division headquarters in Capas, Tarlac.

The deployed troops are tasked with supporting peace and security operations for the regional elections scheduled for 14 September.

Army officials said the deployment highlights the Armor Division’s role as a key tactical force capable of providing rapid maneuverability, heavy firepower, and force protection in high-stakes environments.

Under the operational deployment plan, the tank platoons will provide rapid-response capability and visible deterrence, while the security platoon will work to maintain ground stability.

The reactivated mechanized infantry company will expand operational reach across strategic areas in Mindanao during the election period.

Maj. Gen. Ronel Manalo, commander of the Armor Division, emphasized the significance of the military assignment during the ceremony.

“This mission goes beyond securing polling places — it is about safeguarding democracy, protecting the people’s voice, and ensuring peace prevails at this defining moment in our nation’s history,” Manalo said.

Manalo added that the unit’s reactivation aligns with ongoing army modernization efforts and reflects the division’s readiness to deploy agile forces in response to emerging security requirements.

He expressed confidence that troops would uphold military standards of professionalism, duty, and leadership while on election duty.

The deployment forms part of broader armed forces support for election authorities and local government units working to ensure peaceful and orderly polling across the BARMM region.
