CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The City Health Office (CHO) on Thursday issued a haze advisory as reduced air quality affected parts of Northern Mindanao.
Based on government monitoring cited in the advisory, air quality was classified as “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” in Cagayan de Oro, “Very Unhealthy” in Tagoloan and “Acutely Unhealthy” in Iligan City.
The CHO advised the public to minimize prolonged outdoor activities, particularly when haze is visible, and to limit exposure during midday and afternoon hours.
Children, older adults, pregnant women and people with asthma, allergies, heart conditions or respiratory illnesses were urged to take extra precautions.
The health office also recommended wearing a well-fitting mask, preferably an N95, when going outdoors in areas with noticeable haze.
Residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed when air quality is poor and to use fans or air purifiers, if available, to improve indoor air conditions.
The CHO also encouraged the public to stay hydrated, maintain a healthy diet and monitor official advisories from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau and other government agencies.
