  • KATSEYE has reached a new milestone as the multinational girl group secured its first No. 1 finish on the Billboard 200.

The group, which includes Filipina member Sophia Laforteza, debuted at the top of the US albums chart with its latest EP, “WILD,” Billboard reported Monday. The release generated 170,000 equivalent album units in the US during the week ending 20 August.

The achievement marks KATSEYE’s second appearance in the Billboard 200’s top 10. Its previous release, “Beautiful Chaos,” reached No. 4 in 2025.

Released on 14 August, “WILD” also becomes only the fourth album by an all-female group to top the Billboard 200 this decade. It follows BLACKPINK’s “Born Pink” in 2022, NewJeans’ “Get Up” in 2023 and TWICE’s “With YOU-th” in 2025.

The Billboard 200 measures weekly album popularity in the US through equivalent album units, which combine traditional album purchases with consumption from song downloads and streaming.

KATSEYE’s “WILD” edged out Phoebe Bridgers’ “Lost Weekend,” which opened at No. 2. Stray Kids’ “This & That,” meanwhile, slipped to third after previously occupying the top spot.

Olivia Rodrigo’s “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” landed at No. 4, while Ella Langley’s “Dandelion” rounded out the week’s top five.

KATSEYE was formed through “The Debut: Dream Academy,” a 2023 reality competition created as a global talent search. The six-member group is a collaboration between South Korean entertainment company HYBE and US record label Geffen Records.

Since its debut, KATSEYE has gained attention with tracks including “Touch,” “Gnarly” and “Gabriela,” building a following across different markets.

The group’s latest chart achievement comes after a challenging period for its lineup. Manon Bannerman previously stepped back from activities for health reasons, while Laforteza later announced her own hiatus, citing mental health concerns.

Despite the lineup changes, KATSEYE’s latest release has given the group its biggest chart result yet — and a first taste of the Billboard 200 summit.
