GAC equips the GS4 Max HEV with a 232-hp hybrid system and up to 1,250 kilometers of claimed range.

  • Fuel-efficient SUV
  • Electrified vehicles

GAC Motor Philippines has added another hybrid SUV to its local lineup with the launch of the GS4 Max HEV, which carries a suggested retail price of P1.298 million.

Customers who reserve the vehicle until 30 September can get it for an introductory price of P1.218 million. The P80,000 discount is covered by DTI Fair Trade Permit No. FTEB-265211, Series of 2026.

The launch expands GAC’s electrified range, which already includes battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. The GS4 Max HEV is aimed at households that want an SUV for regular city use and longer out-of-town trips.

The vehicle uses a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine, a dual-motor system and a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. A 2.1-kWh nickel cobalt manganese battery supplies power to the electric side of the system.

GAC lists a combined output of 232 hp, while the electric motor produces up to 300 Nm of torque. The system can operate in electric, hybrid and direct-engine-drive modes. It also recovers energy when the vehicle slows down.

According to GAC, the SUV can cover as much as 1,250 kilometers on one full tank. Actual range will still depend on traffic, driving habits, road conditions and vehicle load.

The new model joins the GS3 Emzoom, Emkoo and GS8 in GAC’s local SUV range. GAC Philippines general manager Calvin Cheng said the GS4 Max HEV was developed for families that need the space of an SUV but also want lower fuel use.

Its 2,750-mm wheelbase and 1,901-mm body width give both seating rows more room for passengers. The cabin comes in black and has a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade. Rear air vents and storage areas are also fitted throughout the vehicle.

The second-row seats fold flat to create an even cargo floor for larger items such as strollers, sports equipment and luggage. GAC also fitted perforated seats and additional sound insulation for longer trips.

A 10.1-inch touchscreen handles the main infotainment functions and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The driver gets a seven-inch digital instrument display. Other equipment includes a 50-watt wireless phone charger with a cooling fan, an aircraft-style gear selector and a surround-view camera.

The GS4 Max HEV also comes with a Level 2 driver-assistance package. Its features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, traffic jam assist, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning and integrated cruise assist.

Passenger protection comes from a safety-cage body that uses high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel in key areas. The airbag package covers the front occupants and both seating rows, while side curtain airbags extend along the cabin.

The exterior has a large matrix-pattern grille, LED headlights, full-width LED taillights and flush electric door handles. Buyers can choose Planet Silver, Hoary Grey or Crystal White. All three colors are paired with the black cabin and black headliner.

GAC backs the GS4 Max HEV with a five-year or 150,000-kilometer basic warranty, whichever comes first. The battery, drive motor and motor control unit receive separate coverage for eight years or 150,000 kilometers.

The distributor now has 30 dealerships nationwide, a local parts warehouse and two years of free roadside assistance. Reservations for the GS4 Max HEV are open at GAC dealerships across the country.
