DAILY TRIBUNE columnist and physician Dr. Monica Therese Cating-Cabral inducted the graduating class of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine into the UP Medical Alumni Society (UPMAS) during a ceremony at the UP Diliman Theater on 13 August.
Cating-Cabral, a UP College of Medicine graduate herself, marked the occasion 25 years after completing her medical degree and welcomed the Class of 2026 into the alumni community.
Looking back on her own graduation, Cating-Cabral recalled the excitement of completing five years of medical school and the music played during her hooding ceremony, including songs by Enya and the theme from the film Gladiator.
“Congratulations, Class 2026 and to all the other graduates and awardees!” Cating-Cabral said.
She also looked ahead to future UPMAS homecomings, noting that when the Class of 2026 celebrates its Silver Jubilee, her batch will mark its Golden Jubilee.
“Looking forward to many Homecomings with you!” she added.
