  • BAGUIO CITY — More than 600 classrooms across the Cordillera Administrative Region sustained varying degrees of damage between 2 and 9 August, with the province of Abra taking the brunt of the destruction, according to official figures released Monday.

    A consolidated report from the Department of Education Cordillera as of 10 August recorded 598 classrooms with minor damage, 94 with major damage and five totally destroyed.

    Regional losses also included 5,297 damaged learning materials, 122 damaged IT equipment units and 622 damaged chairs.

    Abra reported the highest level of destruction among all school divisions in the region, accounting for 415 minorly damaged, 68 severely damaged, and three completely destroyed classrooms.

    The province also logged 5,102 damaged learning materials, 108 damaged IT equipment units and 581 damaged chairs.

    Mountain Province recorded the second-highest infrastructure toll, reporting 50 classrooms with minor damage, 16 with major damage, and two totally destroyed, alongside 100 damaged learning materials, seven IT equipment units and 20 chairs.
