Police recovered a stolen cellphone following sustained CCTV tracking and coordination with barangay officials and a cellphone repair shop in Barangay Central Signal, Taguig City on 6 August, Thursday.
The recovery stemmed from a reported theft incident at a chicken store located at C5 Waterfun, Barangay Pinagsama, Taguig City, where a cellphone valued at approximately P3,799 was reportedly taken from the counter at around 3:40 p.m. on 2 August.
Upon receiving the report, responding police personnel immediately conducted CCTV forward tracking to establish the suspect’s movements and possible escape route. The footage showed the suspect proceeding toward Barangay Central Signal and later Barangay South Signal.
Continuing their verification efforts, police personnel returned to Barangay South Signal on August 6 and reviewed available CCTV footage, which indicated that the suspect had gone back toward Barangay Central Signal.
The diligent CCTV tracking eventually paid off when police personnel discovered that the suspect had entered a cellphone repair shop in Barangay Central Signal. Through coordination with the establishment owner, the responding personnel successfully recovered the stolen cellphone.
The recovered cellphone was subsequently turned over to its lawful owner.
Police personnel also informed the victim of his rights and offered assistance in filing the appropriate complaint against the suspect. However, the victim opted not to pursue the filing of a complaint after confirming the return of his cellphone.
