BDO Unibank Inc. is providing fresh financing support to Discovery Capital Finance Corp. (DCFC) through a new credit facility aimed at expanding access to capital for businesses across the Philippines.
The partnership gives Discovery additional funding capacity to strengthen its lending operations and support enterprises, particularly those in regional markets that continue to face challenges in securing financing for growth and expansion.
The agreement combines BDO’s financial resources with Discovery’s technology-driven lending platform, allowing the non-bank financing company to deploy capital faster through its nationwide network covering Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Discovery said its automated lending system, which includes digital customer onboarding, credit assessment, and loan administration, allows it to provide faster financing while maintaining risk controls and asset quality.
Discovery Capital Finance President and Chief Executive Officer Diosdado C. Salang Jr. said the partnership with the country’s largest bank will help the company widen its reach and serve more local businesses.
“Through this partnership with the country’s number one bank, we can further cater to and expand our market throughout the country. This credit line provides us with crucial funding capacity to deepen our footprint in key regional growth areas and directly address the capital needs of local businesses,” Salang said.
He added that Discovery plans to open more satellite offices nationwide and expand its product offerings, including real estate loan solutions. The company targets opening an additional 10 offices by 2027.
The financing deal is expected to provide more support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which account for more than 99 percent of businesses in the country and remain a key driver of employment and local economic activity.
By combining BDO’s funding capacity and Discovery’s digital lending capabilities, the companies aim to strengthen financing access for entrepreneurs and help accelerate business growth outside major urban centers.
