AIA Philippines, BPI AIA win four Insurance Asia Awards

AIA Philippines and its bancassurance arm, BPI AIA Life Assurance Corporation, have secured four honors at the Insurance Asia Awards 2026, recognizing their initiatives in healthcare, community development, workforce training, and bancassurance.
The awards recognized programs that expanded access to insurance, strengthened healthcare delivery, developed talent and integrated insurance services into digital banking, underscoring the companies’ efforts to improve health and financial protection while supporting communities and employees.
AIA Philippines received three awards: Health Insurance Initiative of the Year for MediCard, Community Initiative of the Year for its EDGE (Early Development & Growth Experience) internship program, and Training & Development Initiative of the Year for its Grow@AIA capability-building program.
“As the needs of our customers continue to evolve, so must the role of insurance — not only as a source of financial protection, but as an enabler of better health, greater access to care, and stronger communities. These awards reflect our commitment to making protection more accessible and relevant to the people we serve, while fostering a workplace culture that empowers our employees to bring our purpose to life,” said Melita Teo, president and chief executive officer of AIA Philippines.
The company said MediCard was recognized for providing an integrated healthcare ecosystem that supports Filipinos from preventive care to recovery through a network of more than 1,567 hospitals and clinics nationwide.
Its EDGE internship program was cited for helping prepare university students for careers in insurance and financial services. The initiative attracted more than 2,000 applicants and onboarded 18 interns, all of whom accepted job offers, according to the company.
