House honors SB19 for tourism role, Lollapalooza and MLB milestones

Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Javier Miguel L. Benitez has filed House Resolution No. 1280 commending P-pop group SB19 for their appointment as Department of Tourism ambassadors and their historic appearances at Lollapalooza 2026 and a Major League Baseball game in the United States.
The resolution was co-authored by Reps. Nelson Legacion, Sarah Jane Elago and Kathryn Joyce Gorriceta.
The Department of Tourism named SB19 its newest tourism ambassadors on 26 July, adding to the group's recognition after being appointed Youth and Sentro Rizal Ambassadors by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in 2021.
On 29 July, SB19 member Josh Cullen became the first member of a P-pop group to throw the ceremonial first pitch during a regular-season MLB game before the Chicago White Sox-New York Yankees matchup.
A day later, Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin became the first homegrown Filipino act to perform at Lollapalooza, delivering a 10-song set at the Allianz Stage in Chicago's Grant Park.
The resolution also recognized the group's stage costumes, which drew inspiration from Filipino heritage, including motifs from the Ayala Museum's "Gold of Ancestors" collection, Ifugao brass pendants and indigenous embroidery patterns.
"When our artists carry the country with them, they open doors no amount of promotion can buy. SB19 made room for the next Filipino act that follows. The work now is making sure the industries behind them, from music to tourism, are ready for the attention," Benitez said.
The resolution seeks to furnish copies to each member of SB19 in recognition of their achievements and contributions to promoting the Philippines on the global stage.
