The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has extended the fuel discount program for public utility vehicle (PUV) operators through August as it continues to monitor global fuel price movements.
LTFRB chairperson Vigor Mendoza II said the program, which covers jeepney and UV Express drivers, will be reviewed monthly to determine whether more extensions are necessary.
“[The fuel discount] is again [extended for] one month. We will review it on a monthly basis so we can see the movement of fuel prices worldwide,” Mendoza said in an interview with Radyo Pilipinas.
Scheme in more stations
Mendoza added that the LTFRB is working to expand the number of participating gas stations where eligible drivers can avail themselves of the P10-per-liter fuel discount.
The LTFRB reported that, in terms of vehicles, almost 100,000 units are benefiting from the fuel discount program on a daily basis nationwide.
Beneficiaries of the fuel discount program are jeepney and UV Express units with franchises issued by the LTFRB.
