ABAG PROMDI National Party announced the death of its chairman and national president, Mariano Antonio V. Osmeña, who passed away on 15 July.
In a statement, the party described Osmeña as a leader known for his integrity, principled leadership, and commitment to public service. It said his vision and dedication helped shape the party and inspired its members nationwide.
The party also paid tribute to the Osmeña family’s role in the PROMDI movement, noting that Mariano Osmeña now joins his father, former Negros Oriental governor Emilio “Lito” Osmeña, who founded PROMDI to champion the interests of the provinces and promote regional development.
ABAG PROMDI extended its condolences to the Osmeña family and appealed to party members, supporters, and the public to respect the family’s request for privacy. The party said Osmeña was cremated shortly after his death and that his funeral rites and interment would remain private.
Secretary General Neil Labrador said the party’s national officers and board of directors would convene a special meeting next week to discuss transition matters before calling an emergency general assembly.
The party also said Emilio “Milo” Osmeña III, brother of the late chairman, has expressed his commitment to continue the ideals and legacy of the PROMDI movement.
