Metrobank has introduced “Earnest,” a digital avatar designed to help Filipinos make informed financial decisions and guard against scams, debt and financial misinformation through accessible online content.
The bank said Earnest will serve as the face of its financial education initiatives, providing practical guidance on topics such as managing debt, building savings, identifying fraudulent schemes and evaluating financial advice.
Digs Dimagiba, Metrobank chief marketing officer, said the initiative aims to make financial literacy more relatable and relevant to everyday life.
"Many Filipinos don't necessarily need more financial information, they need guidance that is approachable, practical, and grounded in their everyday realities. Earnest was created to help Filipinos build confidence in managing their finances, protecting themselves from fraud, and making informed decisions at every stage of their financial journey," Dimagiba said.
He added that financial education should encourage conversations rather than simply provide instructions.
"The goal is not to tell people what to do with their money because financial education should feel less like a lecture and more like a conversation," Dimagiba said. DT
Metrobank said Earnest's content, available through its Instagram and TikTok accounts @earnestph, focuses on common financial concerns faced by Filipinos, including budgeting, responsible credit use, savings, fraud prevention and navigating financial setbacks. The initiative seeks to address the growing spread of misleading financial information online while helping users develop sound money management habits.
