Metrobank posts P24.9-B H1 income, P3.9-T assets

Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) posted P24.9 billion in net income and P3.9 trillion in consolidated assets in the first half of 2026, as the bank marked its 64th anniversary with a focus on maintaining financial strength amid changing economic conditions.
The bank said its capital and asset quality remained healthy, providing buffers against potential risks and allowing it to continue supporting customers and businesses.
“Over the past 64 years, we have seen our customers navigate many periods of change and uncertainty. Today is no different. There are challenges ahead that we have to be prepared for, but Metrobank enters this environment with discipline, well-supported by our capital, liquidity, and risk buffers to help us navigate uncertainty and continue supporting our customers,” Metrobank president Fabian Dee said.
“Our financial strength allows us to continue lending, investing in our capabilities and supporting our customers through different market conditions. Ultimately, we believe a bank becomes stronger when the people and businesses it serves become stronger, too,” he added.
Metrobank said its financial position allows it to continue extending credit to businesses, financing customer milestones, safeguarding deposits, and investing in technology, security and its workforce.
The bank has also expanded its digital banking capabilities, enabling customers to open eSavings accounts and access online time deposits, unit investment trust funds and government securities through its digital channels.
It also continues to promote financial education and security through its Earnest financial mindfulness advocacy and Moneygurado docuseries, which cover saving, investing, debt management and financial security.
For businesses, Metrobank offers financing, cash management, investment solutions and market insights to help them manage day-to-day requirements and pursue growth opportunities.
The Asian Banker has named Metrobank the Strongest Bank in the Philippines for five consecutive years since 2021 and recognized it as the Best Managed Bank for 2025, according to the bank.
Metrobank, which opened its first branch in Binondo in 1962, said it has expanded its capabilities as the financial needs of Filipinos and businesses have evolved.
Beyond banking, the Metrobank Foundation supports initiatives in education, health, livelihood, the arts and community development.
