The government, through the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), has given P1.09 million in reintegration assistance to 62 returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Caraga Region.
According to the DMW-Caraga, 32 former OFWs who are now regular teachers with the Department of Education received teaching kits worth P20,000 each, totaling P640,000, to help them purchase laptops, printers, and other classroom materials.
Meanwhile, 30 beneficiaries received P15,000 each under the Enhanced Livelihood Program for OFW Reintegration, for a total of P450,000, to support the start-up or expansion of small businesses and help them build sustainable sources of income.
DMW-Caraga Regional Director Ritchel Butao reaffirmed the agency's commitment to helping returning OFWs rebuild their lives, strengthen their families, and contribute to their communities through meaningful careers, livelihood opportunities, and renewed purpose at home.
Meanwhile, 70 OFWs and beneficiaries from across the SOCCSKSARGEN Region received practical financial and entrepreneurial skills during the Financial Awareness Seminar and Small Business Management Training with Simple Business Plan Preparation.
The training helped participants strengthen their knowledge of budgeting, saving, responsible spending, debt management, basic investment principles, and simple business planning.
By providing practical guidance, the activity aimed to help OFWs better manage their hard-earned income, prepare for livelihood opportunities, and make informed financial decisions for themselves and their families.
The initiative is part of DMW XII’s ongoing reintegration efforts to support OFWs beyond overseas employment.
Through its partnership with DTI XII, DMW XII continues to promote financial resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and long-term economic stability among OFWs and their families across the SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
