The Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) has placed all police units across Cagayan Valley on heightened alert and activated disaster preparedness measures ahead of the expected impact of Tropical Cyclone Inday in Northern Luzon.

In a statement issued Wednesday, PRO2 said police personnel in the region's five provinces have been directed to implement precautionary measures to help safeguard communities as the weather disturbance approaches the country.

Among the measures being enforced is Oplan Tambuli, under which police officers are conducting early warning advisories for residents in coastal communities, along riverbanks, and in areas prone to flooding and landslides. Residents are being urged to remain vigilant, prepare for possible emergencies, and immediately comply with evacuation orders when issued by local authorities.

The regional police office has also placed its Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) on standby for possible deployment to disaster response, search and rescue, and humanitarian assistance operations, if necessary.

PRO2 said it is closely coordinating with local government units, the Office of Civil Defense, and local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices to monitor the movement of the storm, facilitate the timely dissemination of information, and ensure a coordinated emergency response.

Regional Director Brig. Gen. Mariano C. Rodriguez also directed all police units to intensify public information campaigns on disaster preparedness, early evacuation procedures, and emergency hotline numbers.

"The safety of every citizen remains our highest priority as we prepare for the arrival of the storm. Early preparedness and swift action are essential to prevent loss of life and minimize risks," Rodriguez said.

According to the latest advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Storm Inday entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Wednesday and was last estimated at 1,270 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

PRO2 urged the public to monitor official weather bulletins, heed the instructions of local authorities, and cooperate with emergency responders as the storm continues to approach.
