The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has declared the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) as the Dominant Majority Regional Parliamentary Political Party for the 2026 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections.
The designation was made through Comelec Resolution No. 11248, promulgated on 8 July 2026.
The Comelec en banc, chaired by George Erwin Garcia, also designated the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP) as the Dominant Minority Regional Parliamentary Political Party.
The resolution also accredited nine other major regional parliamentary political parties, completing the lineup of major parties for the first regular BARMM parliamentary elections on 14 September 2026.
A total of 11 applicant parties underwent the accreditation process, which evaluated their ability to field a full slate of candidates, the number of established municipal and city chapters, and the number of women candidates and nominees.
The UBJP ranked first with a total score of 93.14 points.
As the dominant majority party, the UBJP is entitled to receive official election returns, enjoy priority in the appointment of poll watchers, and receive electronically transmitted precinct results.
The dominant majority and dominant minority parties are also granted ex officio, non-voting membership in the provincial, city, and municipal boards of canvassers.
Meanwhile, the nine accredited major regional parliamentary political parties are entitled to appoint poll watchers and receive designated copies of the election returns.
The designation further strengthens the UBJP's position ahead of the parliamentary elections, where 40 of the 80 parliamentary seats will be filled through a proportional representation system. The remaining seats will be allocated to district representatives and sectoral organizations.
Comelec also said it has accredited a total of 16 regional parties and 23 sectoral organizations to participate in the landmark BARMM electoral exercise.
