Senator Erwin Tulfo pledged Tuesday to resign from office immediately if critics can produce documentary evidence proving he received kickbacks from government flood control projects.
Tulfo strongly denied accusations attempting to link him to multi-billion peso flood control anomalies, stressing that he has never requested or been allocated funding for infrastructure, flood control or farm-to-market roads.
“I will resign if anyone can present proof that I received money from flood control,” Tulfo said. “If you see my name at the DPWH or on the list from Cabral that Congressman Leviste mentions, bring the documents to the Senate and I will resign immediately.”
The senator’s remarks follow allegations from former bodyguards of Representative Zaldy Co, who reportedly included Tulfo’s name on a list of politicians who allegedly received suitcases of cash from flood control funds.
Co is currently at the center of a congressional investigation into public works anomalies.
“I have not received a single centavo since my time as a congressman up to now,” Tulfo said. “How could I receive a kickback? Why would Zaldy Co give me suitcases of money when I have no flood control projects?”
Tulfo suggested the allegations are politically motivated, pointing to his recent high placements in preferential surveys for the 2028 presidential election, where he is frequently polled against Vice President Sara Duterte.
