Maybank Philippines is expanding its push into digital payments with a new QR-based collections platform designed to help businesses accept payments from multiple banks and e-wallets through a single code, as competition intensifies in the country’s fast-growing cashless economy.

The bank signed a strategic partnership with OmniPay to introduce QRPay, a solution under Maybank Philippines’ Cash Management Services Collection Suite that will allow merchants to receive payments using one QRPh code regardless of the customer’s preferred participating bank or e-wallet.

Simplify payment collections

The service is expected to simplify payment collections for businesses by eliminating the need to maintain multiple QR codes while improving transaction efficiency and customer convenience.

The collaboration also aligns with the country’s broader drive to expand the use of QRPh, the national QR code standard, as financial institutions continue investing in digital payment infrastructure.

“As businesses increasingly embrace digital and cashless transactions, they need financial solutions that are seamless, secure, and integrated into their operations. Through our partnership with OmniPay, we are launching QRPay to help businesses collect payments more efficiently, expand their reach, and deliver greater convenience to their customers,” said Felino James Marcelo, president and chief executive officer of Maybank Philippines.

Maybank, Omnipay collaboration

“This collaboration brings together Maybank’s strong banking network and cash management capabilities with OmniPay’s fintech innovation to create solutions that support business growth in an increasingly digital economy,” he added.

Maybank said QRPay strengthens its digital cash management offerings by enabling companies to streamline collections while reducing operational friction associated with handling multiple payment channels.

The lender also sees the platform as a way to support financial inclusion by making digital payment acceptance more accessible to businesses of different sizes.

“Beyond strengthening our digital collections ecosystem, this partnership supports the national push towards QRPh adoption and a cash-lite economy. More importantly, it reflects our purpose of Humanising Financial Services — making banking simpler, more accessible, and more relevant while empowering Filipino businesses to thrive,” Marcelo said.
