A household worker was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly stealing valuable jewelry from her employer's residence in Quezon City's Greenmeadows Subdivision, police said.

The incident came to light at around 5:30 p.m. on 1 July when the homeowner discovered that several pieces of jewelry were missing while organizing personal belongings inside the house in Barangay Ugong Norte.

According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the employer immediately reported the incident to the subdivision's security personnel, who detained the suspect before turning her over to the Eastwood Police Station (PS 12).

Police said the suspect had been working at the residence for nearly three months before the alleged theft.

She is facing a complaint for qualified theft under Article 310 of the Revised Penal Code, which imposes heavier penalties for theft committed by domestic workers or other persons in positions of trust.

Investigators are conducting follow-up operations to recover the missing jewelry and determine the full extent of the alleged theft.

The suspect remains under police custody pending inquest proceedings.
